For Chiropractors
DCs who want to become a QME in California are required to complete a 25-hour Industrial Disability Evaluator (IDE) training course. This 25-Hour IDE course is approved by & meets the California's Division of Workers' Compensation requirement for a DC to become a QME.
Pursuant to California Code of Regulations, Title 16, Section 361(h)(2) (CCR 16 § 361(h)(2)), Chiropractors who are already licensed in the state of California when enrolling in this course, may also qualify to apply up to 18 credit hours towards their BOCE continuing education general requirements.
For Medical Doctors
MDs taking this test prep course benefit from the deep dive into the material to best prepare them for this notoriously difficult exam.
This IDE course is comprised of 2 components:
1. 13 Hours of Live Instruction Via Live Webinar ONLY. You will want to complete at least up to Chapter 3 of the on-demand lessons before Live Instruction. Live Instruction sessions are as follows (you must attend EACH of these fully):
- Sept 12, 8am-5pm PT
- Sept 13, 8am-12pm PT
2. 12 Hours of On-Demand Instruction and Testing On this e-learning platform, the lessons are all self-paced. You will be required to complete each lesson in its entirety, and also have the ability to re-play any content that you'd like to revisit. You should complete as many of these lessons BEFORE live instruction, or at least through Chapter 3.
What You'll Need For This Course:
- AMA Guides to Permanent Impairment 5th Edition (ONLY the 5th Edition, aka "the green book." Amazon offers both the hard copy and a kindle version here.)
- Please download the QME Competency examination booklet from DWC.
- Also download the Physician’s Guide to Medical Practice in the California Workers’ Compensation System.

🚨 NOTE: Our IDE class has grown each year! If it continues to grow at the same rate, we will have to limit the number of registrants we accept, so please register soon to guarantee your course access.
Continuing Education Credits: Per California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 16, Article 6, section 361, subds. (h) and (i), completing this 25-hour course can satisfy up to 18 hours of required "general" California Board of Chiropractic Examiners credits (non-mandated topics) provided that you are already licensed in CA by the live instruction dates and you attend live instruction in person. Virtual attendees can satisfy 12 hours.
Bonus! With your registration, you will be eligible to retake the course at no additional charge should you not pass or sit for the exam.

Meet Your Instructors
Dr. Mark Zuber, DC, QME
Chief Education Officer
Dr. Mark Zuber, D.C., has taught industrial medicine for over 25 years, in both Texas and California. He maintains an active clinical practice in Frisco, Texas, and is also an active QME in the California system. He currently serves as Chief Clinical Advisor and Director of Education for various QME practice management companies, is an adjunct professor at Life Chiropractic College West, and previously served on the board of the California Society of Industrial Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Zuber’s teaching style is relaxed and fun, yet thoughtful, purposeful, and thorough. It’s this approach that has made his QME Exam Prep courses so successful, with a roughly 80% passing rate, compared to the approximately 50% state average. What started as a single QME Exam Prep course offering has expanded to a broader catalog of continuing education courses— thanks to his students consistently asking for more of his insightful training.
Dr. Zuber co-founded MedEval Resource Center with his wife, Krista, who serves as Director of Operations. While they spend quite a bit of time in California, they live in McKinney, Texas, and enjoy family time with their three sons and new grandbaby. “Zoob” as Dr. Zuber is often called, is a 3rd-degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has competed at the international level, bringing home many awards, medals, and accolades.
Dr. Stephanie Janiak, D.C.
Dr. Janiak is an experienced industrial injury evaluator, teacher, and mentor within the Worker’s Compensation environment. As a licensed chiropractor since 2007, she has extensive experience writing medical-legal reports while running a successful chiropractic practice.
She has performed over 1500 designated doctor exams in Texas over the past decade and over 500 functional capacity exams. For the past six years while performing PQME exams in California, Dr. Janiak has helped dozens of doctors to become licensed and certified to perform exams in California.
Dr. Janiak currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas with her three young children where she also maintains a small chiropractic practice. She enjoys being active in civic in philanthropic organizations such as The Womans’ Club of Fort Worth and Phi Mu fraternity.
